The Cross Country Volvo Ocean may no longer be part of the 2020 Volvo V90 lineup. Despite this, it still carries that elegance defining a luxury car. It has plush seats and lavish interior to match the needs of car buyers out there.

A fully redesigned version of its predecessor, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class has a lavish cabin to match its solidly built exterior. It also has strong, powerful engines, with a promise of great handling.

Design & Style

There is ample room to stretch out inside the sporty-looking 2020 Volvo V90. It comes standard with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and power adjustments for the front seats. Extravagant soft-touch materials are found in the cabin as well. Styling enhancements include both aluminum and wood to accentuate its leather upholstery.

Having an excellent fit and finish, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class is no wonder one of the more luxurious SUVs in its class. It has that opulent cabin design that will truly meet anyone's discriminating taste. The third row of the large SUV is a bit cramped up for adults, though.

Technology & Safety

There is a long list of technology and safety features in the V90. On the tech front, it comes with a large nine-inch touch screen display. This features a split-view setting, making it easier to access Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with all other cabin settings. Safety wise, the long list of safety tech includes blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, , forward and rear collision warning, lane keep assist, active steering for collision prevention, automatic emergency braking, road-sign recognition, active bending headlights, driver attention monitoring, distance alert, rain-sensing windshield wipers, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.

The GLS-Class comes standard with the 12.3-inch touch screen and Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system. This supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation. It also has a satellite radio, HD Radio, a 13-speaker Burmester premium stereo, nine USB ports, and wireless device charging. Despite these great features, it is noticeable that the interface does not work well unless you master all its controls. This ride has a long list of safety features including the surround-view parking camera system, crosswind assist, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a driver condition monitor, automatic park assist, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive headlights. Forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking are also included.

Performance

The V90 has the base T5 that comes with a turbocharged engine to generate 250 horsepower. The other is a 2.0-liter combo of a supercharged and turbocharged engine in the T6, which is capable of packing 316 horsepower. The GLS-Class, on the other hand, can generate 362 horsepower for its V6 engine.

The Bottom Line

The 2020 Volvo V90 is one of those elegant wagons that remain sporty, and filled with reliable technologies. On top of that, you can count on its powerful engine lineup as well. These define its readiness to provide what car buyers are looking for.
