The 2020 Volvo XC60 is slowly making a name for itself. While it carries the majority of the characteristics found in its predecessor, there are many reasons to attract those who are looking for an elegant and sporty ride. One of which is the inclusion of another trim to its great engine lineup. Of course, it is praised for its luxurious cabin as well.

The 2020 Ford Escape is a completely redesigned version of its predecessor. It also graciously offers comfortable and spacious seats inside.

Design & Style

The 2020 Volvo XC60 simply knows how to project itself to car buyers out there. With its sporty look on the outside, it will never be hard loving this car all the more. Inside it, you will only see the best quality materials used for its overall construction. What's more, it has plenty of legroom and headroom to accommodate adults.

The Ford Escape seats up to five passengers, in its generously crafted cabin. There is also great visibility that both drivers and passengers will enjoy. Despite the promise of a roomy interior, you won't like the fact that the ride does not have the excellent fit and finish inside.

Technology & Safety

The 2020 Volvo XC60 knows how to combine technologies in its world-class built. It has a nine-inch touch screen for its Sensus infotainment interface, which does a lot of functions including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. On top of that, there are also other features including the 10-speaker audio, satellite radio, and a Bluetooth interface. There are plenty of advanced driver aids like oncoming lane mitigation, collision mitigation with active braking, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and run-off road mitigation comes with the base trim. Pedestrian, cyclist, and large animal detection is also offered with the T5 version. The standard rearview camera is there as well.

Blessed with the SYNC infotainment system, the Escape is also disappointing in terms of its meager 4.2-inch display. It has a six-speaker audio system, and a USB port, the only things you will find as part of its standard list of technologies. When it comes to safety, it offers rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, curve control, forward collision warning, driver drowsiness monitoring, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and a rearview camera.

Performance

With four trim levels, the XC60 has a variety of engine options. This starts with the turbocharged T5 to generate 250 horsepower. The next version is found in the T6, an engine that is supercharged and turbocharged to produce 316 horsepower. The third one is the T8, which combines the T6 with an electric motor to produce 400 horsepower. Lastly, there is the new Polestar Engineered version for a 415-horsepower rating.

The Escape, on the other hand, has two engine variations. The first one is a three-cylinder that yields 180 horsepower. The other is a four-cylinder that can hook up to 250 horsepower.

The Bottom Line

With plenty of great features and design characters that make it standout, the 2020 Volvo XC60 is the clear winner of this battle. Its various engine options also work to the delight of those looking for the car to suit their needs.
