The 2020 Volvo XC90 has been welcomed by car buyers who are looking for a new ride for a family. It has a new six-seat configuration, which replaced the four-seating setup. This ride also has a posh interior that provides comfort to its passengers. The 2020 BMW X5 is one of the top-rated luxury midsize SUVS as well. It has an upscale interior, plus a spacious cabin too.

Design & Style

Rugged yet elegant on the outside, it is refreshing to see the revamped XC90. This one is gifted with a seven-seat configuration, but you can trade the second-row seat for a captain's chair and you will get six seats in total. There are plenty of legroom and headroom inside, making it a nice cabin for taller passengers. Designed with premium materials, this ride is indeed more than just modern inside.

Seating only up to five people, the 2020 BMW X5 can also be upgraded to seat up to seven people. Both rows of seats are gifted with plenty of legroom and headroom, however, the optional third row can only serve the needs of children. The interior is handsome, designed with the combination of aluminum, soft plastic, and leather. The cabin becomes noisy when increasing highway speeds.

Technology & Safety

The 2020 XC90 is equipped with the usual Sensus infotainment with a nine-inch touch screen. This supports smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is also gifted with a navigation system, two USB ports, and Bluetooth. It has the standard rearview camera, plus a long list of safety features. These include rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, road sign recognition, and a driver drowsiness monitor.

The X5, on the other hand, has plenty of intuitive tech features. It has the iDrive infotainment with a 12.3-inch touch screen display. It has multiple USB ports, 10-speaker audio, satellite radio, and HD radio. It has a rearview camera, forward collision warning, front and rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams with adaptive pivoting LED headlights.

The XC90 gives you three engine options. One is in the base trim, T5, which has a turbocharged four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine to generate 250 horsepower. The next is in the T6, which combines a supercharged and turbocharged engine to rate 316 horsepower. The last one is the T8 that combines the twin-charged engine with an electric motor to produce 400 horsepower. As for the BMW X5, there is a 335-horsepower rated 3.0-liter, six-cylinder turbocharged engine.

The Bottom Line

The 2020 Volvo XC60 is indeed one of the luxury midsize SUVs that you will truly love. It has a great design, coupled with a beautiful layout on the inside and outside. It has plenty of technologies too, one that beats what the X5 offers.
