The 2021 Volvo V90 secures a top position in our wagon rankings because of its lavish cabin, ample room, and an extensive list of practical features.

The 2021 Honda Pilot ranks in the upper half of our midsize SUV rankings. It has a capable engine and good range of standard features, but nothing stands out amidst its rivals.

Design & Style

The Pilot can seat seven to eight people based on the type of configuration. It offers average space which means adults can ride in comfort up to a limited distance. For long rides, some of its rivals have better room in the rear seats. It has a decent interior with some dated elements. You can find some good quality materials in some regions of the cabin.

The V90 has a lesser seat capacity but there is ample leg- and head-room in all its rows. It's a 5-seater and the cabin feels quite sumptuous than its rival. The leather-wrapped steering wheel and power adjustments are standard in the first row. It offers a higher number of upgrades than any of its competitors. Ventilated and heated seats are a part of the optional upgrades that can further enhance creature comfort inside the cabin. The luxurious touches are quite evident in its interior.

Technology & Safety

The Honda Pilot comes with a fine range of standard features along with the HondaLink infotainment system. However, this system is a little dated and lacks a user-friendly interface. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and similar connectivity functions are available but an upgrade will be required for more functionality that its rivals have. It has several standard safety features as a part of the Honda Sensing suite.

The V90 blasts past its competition with its advanced infotainment system that is fairly intuitive and is loaded with modern features. Additionally, it has some of the best audio systems including 14-speaker Harman Kardon and also a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkens. It also ensures a safe ride with a long list of standard safety features like driver attention monitoring, parking sensors, collision warning, road-sign recognition, and other modern techs.

280-hp V6 engine is standard in all Pilot models. The base trim engine is paired with a six-speed auto transmission and delivers enough power to drive around town. But on highways, you may feel the need to go with a higher trim for faster acceleration.

The V90 also offers choices when it comes to engine type and power. The base trim is equipped with a 250-hp T5 engine that is fairly competent. But for more advanced acceleration and power, 316-hp T6 would better fulfill your wishes. Both engines are paired with a fairly responsive eight-speed auto transmission.

The Bottom Line

The 2021 V90 is suitable for those looking for a lavish cabin, comfortable seating, and a practical list of technology features. Its engine power is also adequate for driving in most terrain types.
