Automobile collectors and enthusiasts worldwide want to get their hands on a 2022 Volvo S60. Its minimalist style, plugin hybrid and impressive importance are top shelf. But how does it stack up against the 2022 Lexus RC, a sharp and sophisticated car with sporty handling and lots of powertrain choices?
Design & Style
The Lexus RC has a brash front end with a side profile that is well appointed. The acuminous lines and edges in the exterior give it a potent appearance, with a cabin that is rich in contrast stitching and polished wood. The headlights are hawkish with teardrop style intakes, and the wheel base is extended with a rear that is muscular and stance that has been lowered.
The Volvo S60 has a number of similarities with the larger S90, but retains its own unique flair. It has a fit and toned exterior with overhangs that have been minimized and fenders which are prominent. It comes with eighteen inch wheels with LED lights that are shaped like a hammer, and inside passengers will be presented with beautiful driftwood, metallic mesh and soft leather which feels soothing to the touch.
Technology & Safety
The IIHS loves the Volvo S60 and has given it the Top Safety Pick award. It has an extensive array of protective technology, which includes headlights that are adaptive, lane control, the ability to monitor blind spots and driver assistance. Interior amenities that passengers will enjoy during their journeys include a sunroof, navigational systems, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with nine inch touch screens.
While the IIHS gave good ratings to the Lexus RC, it didn't capture the coveted Top Safety Pick. It does have automated emergency brakes which are standardized, along with cross traffic notifications and automated high beams. Luxuries within its cabin include seven inch displays, an audio system with ten speakers, Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Performance
The Lexus RC is outfitted with a turbo 4, 2 liter engine that can generate 241 horsepower with 258 pounds of torque, which enable it to go from zero to sixty in about 7.3 seconds. The Volvo S60 is also equipped with a turbo 4, which can generate 250 horsepower with an automatic eight speed transmission that can accelerate from zero to sixty in just six seconds.
The Bottom Line
The Volvo S60 has better safety credentials, larger touchscreens and an edge in performance. The Lexus RC uses an interface for its touch pad that many consider outdated, its V8 upgrade is overpriced, and some have complained about the rear seats, making the Volvo S60 the winner.
