The 2022 Volvo V90 offers a tough competition with its cushy seats, spacious cabin and fine amenities. Every rider can enjoy a smooth and comfortable ride in both front and rear rows.

The 2022 Toyota Sienna offers quite a capable handling and ample space, however, part of its interior feels outdated and standard technology in its cabin may feel inadequate.

Design & Style

Sienna being a 7 to 8-seater has greater seating capacity. But it's lacking in support for long drives. The first row passengers won't complain but the rear row riders may feel exhausted after a while due to insufficient leg- and head-room. There are some high-grade materials in the cabin but the overall design may feel stale relative to rivals. Road and wind noise also seeps in the through the cabin and could bother some occupants.

The V90 seats only five people but the room to sit and stretch comfortably is abundant. Optional heated and ventilated seats are quite appealing to buyers. Power adjustments are standard in the first row.  In this rivalry, V90 comes up to the top with its extravagant soft-touch cabin materials and the available luxury upgrades.

Technology & Safety

The 2022 Toyota Sienna comes with the Entune infotainment system having a 7-inch touch screen. It offers several standard Smartphone integration features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay, etc. The infotainment system works well but some controls are uncomfortably located and can be distracting while driving. It also lacks the sharper graphics and the modern interfaces that the rivals have in their basic models. The missing Android Auto may disappoint some prospective buyers. Driver Easy Speak is a plus side in this model. It also has some standard safety features to assist in driving.

The V90's infotainment system boasts a large 9-inch touch screen with split-view setting. You can view and access two different functions simultaneously. The user interface is much easier to control and there is plenty of entertainment technology as well. For driver's assistance, it is equipped with a laundry list of features such as distance alert, driver attention monitoring, parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and more. Its rival only has a few of these safety technologies.

Sienna has quite a potent engine for a minivan. It has a 296-hp V6 engine which can easily propel the van while driving anywhere through the town. You will face no problems while passing another car on highways. However, some critics claim that its eight-speed transmission is unrefined and less responsive.

The V90 offers two powertrain choices, one with 250-hp T5 engine and another more potent one with 216-hp T6 engine. Both are paired with a responsive eight-speed auto transmission that works well to delivery impressive power anywhere you ride it.

The Bottom Line

While Toyota Sienna is a spacious car offering a smooth ride but when compared to Volvo V90, its cabin may seem outdated and lacking modern functionality. Volvo, on the contrary, offers a more well-rounded choice to the buyers and doesn't let you down on any fronts. Buyers should definitely give it a try.
