SUV enthusiasts all over the world want to get their hands on the 2022 Volvo XC60. It's all and front wheel drive, state of the art tech and powertrains place it leagues above the competition. But can it compete with the Chevrolet Tahoe, an imposing SUV with a ten speed automatic, air suspension and lots of space?

Design & Style

The Chevrolet Tahoe is full sized and visually resembles a truck in some ways. Its grille is slotted with a vertical front and LEDs which are standardized. The frame sits on eighteen inch wheels, but buyers can upgrade to 22 inches if they want more bling. The cabin is refined, with seats decked out in leather and a soft touch style dash with large ten inch displays. An electric gear shifter is accessible near the dashboard.

The Volvo XC60 is classy in a reserved way. The outside is smooth and flowing with excellent proportions and metallic trim in all the right places. The cabin looks best in lighter tones especially when combined with driftwood. The seats are extremely comfortable and the touchscreens have premium quality and are readily accessible.

Technology & Safety

When it comes to safety the Volvo XC60 is as close to perfect as you can get. It has won both the Top Safety Pick award and a perfect five star rating from the NHTSA, a feat that few of its competitors can ever hope to accomplish. It has emergency automated brakes, steering assistance, the ability to monitor blind spots, parking sensors and a camera with surround view. Luxuries within its cabin include keyless start, power lift gate, nappa leather, powered seats and a digitized gauge cluster which is 12.3 inches in size.

The Chevrolet Tahoe has many of the safety functions which are found in the XC60, including pedestrian detection, automated headlights, parking sensors and reminders to put on seat belts. These have earned it a four star rating from the NHTSA, and comforts within its cabin include keyless ignition and access, a Bose sound system with nine speakers, dual USB ports, powered seats and a steering  wheel wrapped in leather.

Performance

The Chevrolet Tahoe is a monster. It comes with an inline 6, 3 liter engine that can generate 277 horsepower that is wedded to an automatic ten speed transmission. The Volvo XC60 has a turbo 4, 2 liter engine that can generate 250 horsepower that is wedded to an automatic eight speed transmission.

The Bottom Line

While the Chevrolet Tahoe has engine power, the Volvo XC60 has greater safety credentials, making it better suited to families with children.
