If you are in the market for an outstanding SUV, you can't do better than the 2022 Volvo XC90. This outstanding SUV is stylish, with a super-aggressive stance that turns heads wherever you go. The XC90 also comes with a host of tech features that make driving this SUV such a pleasure. With a spacious cabin and a generous trunk area, this all-round SUV is perfect for family outings, excursions off the beaten track and almost any other purpose that you may have for it. The 2022 Lexus LX is also a solidly designed SV. The flagship of the Lexus SUV brands, the 2022 LX is pretty luxurious and spacious. But this comes at a cost as we shall see.
Design & Style
With beautiful lines running along its body, the 2022 XC90 is an outstanding vehicle from whatever angle you look at it. The Volvo XC90 comes with a host of luxury features in the cabin, making it a very comfortable place to be in. It starts with the fabulously designed dashboard that is ergonomic in all ways, making it easy for the driver to access any knob or button. The 2022 Lexus LX is similarly good looking and has a fairly plush interior. Cabin space is ample and there is even more space in the luggage area, especially if you put-up the third row seats.
Technology & Safety
While both of these vehicles come with a host of tech and safety features, the 2022 XC90 certainly edged out the 2022 LX when it comes to safety features. This is not surprising seeing that it is a Volvo after all. Standard features include lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, among many others. The vehicle also has an easy-to-use infotainment system that controls most of the cabin functions. It is intuitively designed to make it easy to operate even when the vehicle is in motion. With the Lexus LX, you get many tech features as well, but they don't feel as solidly designed as those in the Volvo. For example, the infotainment graphics on the LX are terrible compared with those in the XC90.
Performance
Under the hood, the Lexus, and the Volvo are very different. The big Lexus LX comes standard with ta 3.6 liter turbocharged V6. This gives the Lexus a lot of power, but its large size also means that the LX is a pretty thirsty SUV. Volvo somehow found a sweet spot with the 2-liter turbocharged XC90. Fuel consumption is pretty good and the XC90 never feels under powered.
The Bottom Line
Both the 2022 Lexus LX and the 2022 Volvo XC90 are pretty good cars. They go toe to toe when it comes to looks, functionality and to some extent, even tech features. However, the Volvo feels and rides like a much better vehicle. The build-quality of the European vehicle is much better than that of the Lexus. You are better off going with the 2022 Volvo XC90.
