Have you ever noticed that your clock might run too fast or too slow, by milliseconds, depending on the season of the year? Usually, clocks run slower during winter, and faster during warmer months. This can apply to your car clock as well. If you want to learn how to calibrate your Volvo clock, read on.

Calibrating the Clock Depending on Certain Factors

There are different factors that can impact the way you calibrate your Volvo clock. Here is a list of these factors and what to consider when calibrating the clock:

  • Location of the Clock. Note that the clock may vary according to the Volvo car model. There are either 8-inch or 12-inch displays you will see. There may be pieces of information or some messages that may cover the clock in the driver display. When the driver display is at the center, the clock is usually at the center.
  • Time and Date Settings. Look for the settings, system date and time on the display. This is usually found on the top view. From there you can change the date and time format settings. Press the up or down arrow provided on the touch screen to adjust the time and date accordingly.
  • Cars with GPS. Volvo cars, like other modern cars, may already be equipped with a navigation system. If your car has this feature, expect that the Auto Time is already included. When you select this feature, it will be easy adjusting the time. It actually makes automatic adjustments depending on where your car is located. There are some navigation systems that require making current location adjustments so that you get the right time zone when calibrating. If you do not want to take advantage of this feature, then you can settle for the calibration method mentioned in the time and date settings, that is, using the up or down arrows provided on the touch screen display.
  • Summer Time. Certain countries have their so-called summer time or Daylight Saving Time. If you are a Volvo car owner and you live in a country with this setting, you can select Auto Daylight Saving Time to make adjustments on the display. In other countries, manual selection may be made.
  • After Battery Disconnection. There are instances when the clock may reset if the car battery has been disconnected after visiting a service center. You need to make the adjustments so that you can use the car's Internet Connection.

Basics When Calibrating Volvo Clocks

Locate the Settings or Owner's Manual which is usually found at the display's upper edge. Tap this tab then select settings, system, date & time, or automatic time as the case may be. Note that some in-car apps are dependent on proper time setting on your vehicle. Avoid synching issues by selecting "Auto Time".
